The Upside-Down Catfish (Synodontis nigriventris) is a freshwater fish known for its unique behaviour of swimming upside down, hence the name. These peaceful, omnivorous fish are popular in community aquariums due to their interesting behaviour and compatibility with other species.
The redeye tetra is one of the more popular aquarium fish due to their schooling capability. It can grow up to 7 cm (2.8 in) in length, and live for approximately 5 years. The red-eye tetra has a bright silver body accented by a white-edged black basal half of the tail and a thin red circle around its eye.
Five Star fish or Six Points Fish, belonging to the cichlid family, are known for their vibrant colours and striking blue spots, especially during breeding season. They are native to Africa and are popular aquarium fish, though they are also known for their aggressive and territorial behaviour, particularly when breeding.
The carp is a hardy greenish brown fish. It is native to Eurasia but has been introduced into Africa and elsewhere. A large-scaled fish with two barbells on each side of its upper jaw, the carp lives alone or in small schools in quiet weedy mud-bottomed ponds, lakes, and rivers.
