The swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii) is a live-bearing freshwater fish. Its name comes from the male’s long, straight lower tail lobe, which resembles a pointed sword. The female has a rounded tail fin. This fish has a triangular head and conical upper and lower jaws.

They are known for their peaceful, schooling behaviour and are popular in the aquarium trade. These fish typically have a lifespan of up to 5 years and reach an adult size of 2-2.4 inches (5-6 cm).
The redeye tetra is one of the more popular aquarium fish due to their schooling capability. It can grow up to 7 cm (2.8 in) in length, and live for approximately 5 years. The red-eye tetra has a bright silver body accented by a white-edged black basal half of the tail and a thin red circle around its eye.
